While we’re on the topic… I arrived late to the party in 2021 when a friend whose taste in music I look up to played They Want My Soul for me. After that I deep-dove into Spoon’s discography and thus began my continual shock at the brilliance of each and every song. What a revelation. I love all the (unpredictable) handclaps and weirdness in a setting of pure, perfect songwriting loaded with tantalizing hints and possibilities that naturally distill into pure emotion. “Beast And Dragon, Adored” is the very first song I heard the band play live. I adore every track on this album and continually go back to it. Rock on.

I'm not too cool to admit that hearing I Turn My Camera On in a TV commercial is how I got into Spoon. And then going back to Kill The Moonlight and Girls Can't Tell was such a kick in the ass to get back to tracking down music because I had missed them when they came out. I'm not too hard on myself because the end of the 90s-early 2000s was rough for me, so I only had time to listen to what friends were feeding me, and none of them sent me Spoon. So I've been a Spoon fan for 20 years and credit them with my current obsession to keep up with music (and thus to creating AnEarful in 2009), which makes me so happy!
